Kaal Sarp Dosh: Astrological Curse or Fabricated Fear

First of all, let me clear about the air or fear about this so called Kaal Sarp Dosh placement in the birth chart.

People fear nothing of this so called

“Kaal Sarp Dosha” Placement

  1. There is no such thing as Kaal Sarpa dosha in Vedic Astrology, nor is any mention of this ancient astrology texts.
  2. This is just an illusion spread by many astrologers just to get money through some puja remedy.
  3. Just like many placement, Kaal Sarp Dosha as it is called, is only a placement in someone’s birth chart.
  4. There is no bad or good effect of Kaal Sarpa Dosha.

The world-renowned expert on astrology, Mr. K. N. Rao, has written a book on this subject that demonstrates, using many public figures’ natal charts, how some self-appointed astrologers experts and fake fortune tellers are taking advantage of the credulous public under the guise of this dosha. Here the fake or greedy astrologer, ever ready with a remedy, is in demand. The easiest way for this astrologer to instill fear in the hearts of his or her clients is by mentioning Kala-sarpa Yoga, or even just half of it. Here, he/she promises to perform a yagna at a cost of some thousands of rupees for peace(Shanti).

I will share a personal story here.

During my childhood, i know one of our close relative had three children. An astrologer told them that out of three of their children, two had to perform Kaal Sarp dosha puja. A fear was created among the parents of the children, that this puja is very much necessary for bright future and removing hurdles in life. a big fat money was charged for this.

When i started learning Astrology and got into the intricacies of Astrology aspects and complexities, i realised that Kaal Sarp Dosha is just a placement, this placement just like other placements has its advantages and disadvantages which varies from horoscope to horoscope.

I didn’t find any mention of the placement in any ancient texts. When i studied the chart of my relatives children, i was surprised even the so called fake placement was not there.

Even if you want to understand what it is and for the sake of Astrology learners, I will explain What is this so called “Kaal Sarpa Dosha”?

When all the planets are either on right side or left side of Rahu Ketu axis, then most astrologer call it as kaal sarpa dosha.

Many people confused in some charts which shows Kaal Sarpa Dosha but it’s actually not. The chances of even this “Kaal Sarpa dosha” is very rare. I will explain it through an example.

In this chart, All the planets seems to be at right side of Rahu Ketu axis but if you will see it clearly, Venus is sitting with Ketu. Venus is at 9 degrees while Ketu is at 25 degree. This means that Venus is coming left to rahu ketu axis and other planets are coming on the right side of rahu ketu axis. Thus, the Kaal Sarpa Dosha get canceled.

So you have to study it deep whether degree wise all the planets are on one side of Rahu Ketu axis or not.
